About the Book

Welcome to this site featuring our book Victory in Singleness: A Strategy for Emotional Peace. Let’s get right to it…

"Prolonged Singleness" is a phenomenon that is faced by millions of women in the U.S. today between the ages of 25-60. The situation of prolonged singleness occurs when there is a protracted period of time in which a woman who desires to be married is unable, for a variety of reasons, to get married. In other words, marriage is an elusive goal. The reasons for prolonged singleness are varied: from a lack of eligible single men to not meeting that special someone.

Victory In Singleness: A Strategy for Emotional Peace is written for the woman who struggles with the negative thoughts and emotions that often accompany prolonged singleness. We wrote this book for the woman who is searching for viable solutions to her real-life hurts.

Many women believe that marriage is the solution to wholeness. It is not! Marriage was not designed to meet our fundamental emotional needs nor to fill our spiritual void – only God can do that. Yet we entangle ourselves emotionally and spiritually in unhealthy relationships when singleness is viewed as an undesirable state. Victory in Singleness is for the unmarried woman who craves victory over her thoughts and emotions. This book deals with three root issues that make us want to act ugly: envy, discouragement, and bitterness. Gaining victory is all about recognizing, naming, and solving our emotional mess that cause us to make poor choices that lead to despair and hopelessness.

Shackled to Baggage
When we deal with envy, discouragement, and bitterness, it’s like dragging around heavy baggage. As we travel through life we accumulate a variety of experiences: many are lonely, some are disappointing, and others are shameful. As a result, some of us have been pulling around bags jam-packed with envy, others are hauling suitcases full of discouragement, and many have been dragging footlockers crammed with bitterness. All of this is emotional and spiritual baggage. The good news is that through the power of God, we can get rid of these burdens that have weighed us down. We can have the victory because Jesus died to set us free. We can get rid of envy, discouragement, and bitterness.

Envy, discouragement, and bitterness are by no means solely an affliction that occurs only in single women. These feelings are a result of being human. They are manifestations of a spiritual problem. Any person, single or married can glean solutions to envy, discouragement, and bitterness by reading this book. We did, however, write this book for Black women because according to the 2000 Census, almost 60% are African-American women are unmarried. That means that well over the majority of Black women are single.

You can experience the peace God intended by learning how to combat the troubling emotions of envy, discouragement and bitterness. You can have victory in singleness.
